Sleeping Cutie
I've been trying to post a new video for the past few days, but either google or my computer is not cooperating. So here's a cute picture of our sleeping boy.

What schedule?
After more than a week of sweet predictability, Micah has decided that he's no longer a fan of my schedule. He's waking up earlier and earlier and not falling for the old pacifier trick. He also continues to be a picky eater. At one feeding he'll happily eat for almost an hour. At another feeding, he'll eat a few minutes, then scream as if I was trying to feed him vegetables. It's a good thing he's so cute....

Check-up
Micah had his four-month well visit to the doctor today. He weighs 15 pounds, 4 ounces (50th percentile) and is 26.4 inches long (85th percentile). He had to get four shots again, and it went even better than last time. We had the same terrific nurse. Micah didn't even start crying until the third shot, and then he only cried for about 10 seconds.

Reality
Some of you may not realize this, but Micah is not always perfectly happy and smiling. He occassionally has bad days - like yesterday. He didn't eat well (who knows why), then he didn't sleep well (because he was hungry), then he was fussy when he was awake (because he hadn't eaten or slept). Then last night he woke me up three times!! The nerve!! Thankfully, he's pretty much back to normal today.
Don't get too upset. These tears ended before I even set the camera down.

Retiring
Today's blog is in honor of Micah's Grandpa and Uncle Eric. This will be the last time that Micah wears his Boston Red Sox sleeper. He can no longer straighten his legs in it. It's hard to believe that just four months ago when we put him in this outfit to come home from the hospital, he was swimming in it!
In other news, I'm very excited that Micah is starting to be on a real schedule! He's always been pretty predictable: eat, play, and sleep in four-hour cycles. But those cycles may start at 5am or 8am (or any other time), depending on how long he sleeps. However, today is the fourth day in a row that we've been within 20 minutes of doing things at the same time every day!! If you're interested, here's what we aim for:
7:30am breakfast
9:15am nap
11:30am lunch
1:30pm nap
3:30pm first dinner
5ish nap if needed (it's almost always needed)
7:30pm second dinner, then bedtime.
Last night he made it from 7:30pm to 7:30am before he needed to eat again (with a little help from our friend the pacifier). But most nights there's another feeding somewhere in the early hours of the morning.
Don't worry, I know that as soon as you have things figured out, they change. I don't have unrealistic expectations. It just makes me excited to have more predictability.

My Favorite People
Micah is improving his rolling skills. Yesterday I put him on his tummy, then went into the kitchen for a minute. When I looked back to check on him, he was on his back! He performed his trick again later while he was playing with Daddy.
He's moving in other ways, too. He was making a lot of noise at 5am, so I went in to check on him (let's be honest - I was just sticking the pacifier in his mouth so I could go back to sleep), and he was 180 degrees rotated from where we put him down! I watched him for a minute (making sure that the pacifier was going to keep him quiet and I could indeed go back to sleep) as he lifted his feet up high in the air, then arched his back when he put them down. Before long, he had turned himself more and had his head against the side of the crib. I scooted him back to the middle and went back to bed. At 6:30am, this is where I found him:

Laughing
Like I said the other day, Micah is getting more playful. We love to make him laugh! He is figuring out more noises that he can make (like squealing and smacking his lips), and he likes to hear himself. Today I had to remind him to use his inside voice!

Rolling
To be perfectly honest, Micah has only performed this feat a few times; he has in no way mastered it yet. But it's still fun to watch him try! He's been really playful and laughing and squealing a lot this week. I'll probably have another video for you in a day or two.

Jack and Julie
Uncle Jack and Aunt Julie came to visit this weekend. The beautiful spring weather allowed us to go for a walk, play bocce (Julie beat Scott!), get ice cream, and cookout in the park. Micah was so pooped by the end of the weekend that he went to bed at 5 o'clock last night.
