Easter and Spring Training

We've had some pretty lousy weather around here the past few months.  It feels like it's cold and gray ALL the time, with no snow for playing.  On Friday the temperature was above forty degrees AND the sun made an appearance - we declared it "spring".  The kids played outside, and Scott helped Micah get ready for t-ball.

On Saturday we took a family trip to the zoo, and today we celebrated our risen Savior.  I decided to make an Easter dress for Hannah this year.  I actually used a pattern and followed the [stupid and hard to understand] directions.  She and I were both very excited with the results:

Micah and those crazy eyes!
We're keeping Easter day pretty low-key this year, but we did decorate cookies and have an egg hunt earlier this week.
serious work
much more interested in eating than decorating

March Madness

Our annual reunion with some of our college friends was in the Harrisburg area this weekend.  It seemed like all of us had a lot going on this year, so we really only got to spend the day together on Saturday.  But one day is better than none!
I really, honestly thought I would remember to take pictures this year.  I didn't.  Well, I took four pictures - but three of them were at our house.

We stayed with the parents of our good friend Dave.  Our kids immediately knew that Miss Nancy was a grandma, and would therefore read to them as much as they asked.
Our kids were pretty exhausted when we got home.  But silly Hannah still tried to stay up reading books at bedtime.

Potty time!

Look who's going on the potty!  For the first few days, we didn't have much success.  Hannah would willingly sit on the potty for up to twenty minutes with no results.  Then a few minutes later she would have an accident on the floor.  Also, I discovered she's capable of holding it for three or four hours.  So, after an accident, it would be hours before we could try again.
I decided we needed something to change today.  I began "Operation Pee-a-lot". I gave her an almost-endless supply of juice this morning.  We almost never drink juice, and a large amount of it had the desired effect.  She finally peed in the potty!  After she did it once, she understood what it was supposed to feel like, and she was able to do it again and again.  Woohoo!!
Hooray for Hannah!

What blog?

Apparently, I forgot that I had a blog.  Oops.  Since my last post...
- Micah went skiing again, and loved it again.
- Gramme and Poppa came for a visit.
- Scott and I had a weekend away in the Pittsburgh area.
- Micah had a bowling field trip.
- Hannah turned two and a half.
- I was spoiled by friends and family for my birthday.
- Micah has become a big fan of legos.  He got a few sets for his birthday, and Gramme and Poppa took him to a lego store.  I am also a big fan of legos.  It's a quiet, creative activity that we can both enjoy.  I'll take building legos over playing cars any day!
- Hannah decided that she's ready to give up diapers and start using the potty.  It's been less than 24 hours, but she seems determined and positive.  Thus far, we've had an equal number of successes and puddles.
You have to wear head lamps while you watch tv "so you can see the tv".
We played with shaving cream one day.
....and the obligatory belly picture.
