Bonus Ski Day

Between the weather and our schedule, I assumed that we were done with skiing for the winter (which was pretty disappointing for Matthew and Hannah, who only got to go once).  But, miraculously, after a few spring-like days, we had one more glimpse of winter roll through!  Even more remarkable, we had a Saturday with nothing on the schedule!!  Oysters were already planning to ski that day, and we were excited to join them.  Scott stayed in the lodge, which was really nice to have a "home base" for people to return to.

Matthew was a little tired and struggled with it being a bit icy, so it was great for him to be able to hang out with Scott while I took a turn with Hannah.  Here's a clip of Matthew.  He's in front of the fence to start.  He can do bigger hills than this, but he recognized that he was having trouble stopping and decided to do quite a few runs on the smaller hill to be safe.

He may have been as excited about the cheese balls as he was about skiing...

Micah added another kind of racing to his resume - ski cross!  All the older boys had a lot of fun practicing the course, then racing in groups of 4-6 skiers.  Micah was very disappointed because he somehow got put in a group with adults and older teenagers (he was supposed to be in a 14 and under group).  He finished last in his heat, but he wasn't that far behind - especially considering he was against much heavier and older skiers.  This was a practice run.
He's already asking if he can do it again next year.

All School Unit

Elle and her sister spent a couple of nights with us while their grandma had surgery.  It's pretty easy for me, since all they want to do is play with Hannah.

Thankfully, the weather and schedules cooperated for us to have a do-over for Micah's birthday.  I took the boys skiing after school.  They skied for 4.5 hours with only a small break to eat and wanted to keep going.  (Since it was a school night, I was a mean mom and made them go home.)
They took turns making goofy smiles.

My dear friend Kerri and I crashed another church's women's retreat.  She's been doing a Bible study with them and invited me to join her for the retreat.  Quite a few families from school go to this church, as well as many friends from town, so we were in good company.
Cornerstone moms and teachers

Cornerstone had their "All School Unit" performance.  It was a great feeling to be able to gather in-person with this community again.   The unit of study that the whole school focused on this year was the tabernacle.  It was beautiful to hear what even the youngest students were able to learn about being in God's presence, and it was a worshipful experience. As the oldest students, Hannah's class did a fantastic job acting out the story-line that tied the performance together.
