Grandparent Camp

Matthew was old enough to go to Gurley Grandparent Camp this year!  Dick and Cathy (and their high school helper Kenlin) are up to 7 grandchildren, ages 5-10.  As you can see, the children are always bored and have a terrible time.

When the parents returned for their children, we all went out to breakfast to celebrate Papa's 70th birthday.

After Scott and I dropped our kids in Indiana, we continued driving to Chicago.  Scott worked remotely during the days while I enjoyed leisure time.  In the evenings we took a boat tour and went to see "Hamilton".  It was a wonderful three days and a perfect opportunity to celebrate our 15th anniversary.

Camp Carl - Micah

Just like last year, Micah went to Camp Carl with his 2 closest friends: Owen and Carter.  Cousin Caroline also came from Virginia again.  Micah didn't show up in very many pictures, but it sounds like he had a great week.  He said he had fun with all the boys in his cabin (actually a yurt), mostly liked the food, and only got a little bit sunburned.  Here's the link for the video recap of their week.

Even though they don't go to school together anymore, Micah and Owen are still great friends.
This is Carter and his school friend Kage.  Micah has gotten to know Kage over the past couple of years, and all three boys have a lot of fun together.

While Micah was away, the younger kids enjoyed their time together.  One day we went to the zoo with Meghan and McKinley.  Another day Hannah had her friend Taylor over for a play date.  We took Taylor to the pool with us, and the girls were thrilled to run into another school friend.  Also, Taylor inspired Hannah to be brave, and she tried the yellow slide for the first time! (video link here)

Sunday afternoon, our small group at church volunteered at camp to welcome the next week of campers.  We helped with directing traffic, escorting people to their cabins, moving luggage, and just being friendly.

Camp Carl - Hannah

Hannah had an amazing time doing day camp at Camp Carl this week.  She was there for four days, including spending the night on Thursday.  She had a few good friends in her cabin and had met all the other girls either through church or mutual friends.  Hannah's counselors gave her the "Sweet Pea" award for being super sweet and loving to everyone.

Hannah makes lots of appearances, and somehow her brothers managed to be in it too.
