May-cember Part 2

The past ten days have held class picnics, a field day, a kickball tournament, awards ceremonies, final exams, soccer games and practices, cookouts, a graduation party, a 5k, and more.  Thank goodness we're almost to June! (pictures in no particular order)

Hannah received awards for her high GPA and for being "an engaged and self-motivated student".

Matthew's class picnic.  Matthew's hands are empty because his teacher accidentally left a few of the awards at school, but he got the "self-control" award.
This is the only cookout picture I took.  I wish I had gotten one of all the kids playing kickball!
We had a 4 year old boy for the long weekend to give his foster parents a break.
Matthew played goalie for a while in one of his games this weekend.
We have never had any kind of video game system, but we surprised the kids with an xbox on the last day of school.

Team meeting after practice.  I love how their coach gets on their level (both literally and metaphorically).
Micah got to join the Tallamdge U15 team for a scrimmage against Colton's team.

Matthew has done one official 5k and one unofficial 5k before.  Both times he has wanted to be under 30 minutes, but hasn't quite made it.  Today was his day!!  He ran a great race with me from start to finish, and his time was 28:34. Way to persevere, Matthew!

Sadie Turns One

Yesterday we celebrated Sadie's birthday.  (I mean - we gave her a new toy and made her take a picture with a hat - nothing too wild.)

She is still a very playful puppy (and a terrible sock thief), but she has grown up a lot in the past year!

May-cember

We're halfway through May! It's the month that's as busy as December, but without the presents.

Since my last post...

- my parents came for a visit

- Scott went to California for a week

- Scott's parents came to visit

- Micah was cleared to run in his last 3 track meets

- Hannah scored another goal (her team is now 3-1-1)

- Matthew played 3 more soccer games (the last was one of his best!)

- Matthew had a Renaissance Fair and a small play at school

- I took 37 3rd-4th graders swimming (but not Matthew because he was sick that day)

- Hannah improved her mile time and PR'd her 800m time

- Micah, Matthew, and I rode 12 miles in the rain for the Try-a-thon

- Micah has reffed every Sunday

- Sadie has been practicing running off-leash

....and more!

Matthew was a snake in a play about the rainforest.
I've taken Sadie running several times, and Micah took her once.  She does great!

Carter got his driver's license.  Somehow we've gone from this..
