Winter Sports

On December 26th, as the family discussed plans for the next day, I heard Matthew mention something about playing basketball, but I didn't think much of it.  Then later, it came up again, "And we're doing basketball tomorrow, right Mommy?"  Uh...I don't think so, buddy?  Then it clicked, back in October I told him that he could do basketball, but that it didn't start for a long time: not until after Christmas.  I should have known that he would remember my exact words and take me literally!! 😄
He loves having his own activity, and is really enjoying basketball.  Here is a link of him dribbling the whole length of the court without stopping!

Hannah is continuing to enjoy gymnastics, and Micah is playing indoor soccer with Scott as his coach.
This year Hannah is also old enough to do ski club!  I was concerned that she would be intimidated by doing a new challenge without any friends in her lesson, but the first week she came with a great attitude and confidence.  She has gained a great amount of skill in just three weeks, and I'm so proud of her!  She can ski all of the blues and greens at Boston Mills without falling (all three of them 😂) and moved up a level in her lessons.
Micah still really enjoys skiing and has been a great big brother.  He has spent a lot of free time staying on the easy hills with Hannah and me, being encouraging.

We had one great day where there was a good amount of snow, and the temperature wasn't frigid.  We squeezed in sledding between Baby L's nap and Hannah's gymnastics.  Micah's good friend Owen and his two brothers joined us.  They had a fabulous time, and I was so impressed with how they all stayed together, with the older kids looking out for the younger ones.  At one point they told me, "We're playing bocce!  Jake is the ball, so whoever finishes the closest to him wins!"  Haha!

And, of course, the kids spend a lot of time playing in the snow at home with our neighbors.  They will spend hours playing on the snowdrift in the cul de sac.  The boys also enjoy football in the snow. (There is no sound because I'm videoing from inside my warm house.)
