Fun Times

Micah and I have had a fun couple of days. Our ABF friends have started having regular play dates every other week. This week was our turn to host. We had a total of 9 adults and 14 kids! We had a beautiful sunny day. The kids got along with each other really well, and the adults all enjoyed having other adults to talk to. :) Micah and I had a fabulous time. Micah has talked repeatedly about playing with Kayla and Carter in the backyard.

Yesterday was another beautiful day. I decided at breakfast that we should go to the zoo. It was pretty busy, and several of the animals were off-exhibit, but we still had a good time. Except for the walk from the car to the ticket counter, Micah walked the entire zoo. I don't know how those little legs did it!
In the evening, Leah stopped by to drop off a belated birthday present. Micah absolutely loved it. He calls it his "beeseball and mat".

Micah has been asking to play with Carter ever since he left the play date Tuesday afternoon. So he's going to come over and play this morning while his little brother has a doctor's appointment. Then we get to have Daddy home for a 3-day-weekend! Let the fun continue!

"Helmet"

Why wouldn't you wear a hard hat to play basketball?

Outnumbered

Poor Micah. He was the only boy in the first round of cousins, and now there's three more girls headed his way this fall. (His sister will hopefully come in August, Mike and Laurie's in September, and Eric and Meredith's in October.) Get ready for the pink invasion!

In potty news, we're still working on it. He's being a very good sport about it, but we haven't had a lot of success yet. The most common sequence of events goes like this: he gets his undies a little bit damp, stops himself, and runs to sit on the potty. He sits on the potty for about 5 minutes. Nothing happens. He gets up to play and pees on the floor within the next few minutes. We're going to keep trying today and tomorrow. If his little body can't figure out what to do, then we'll give it a rest for a month or two.

Last Week

For those of you that didn't know, Micah and I flew to New England last week to visit family. Here's a recap of what you missed:

Wednesday: We got up before dawn to go to the airport. Micah was adorable wearing his backpack and was very well-behaved on the flight.

We flew into Boston, so Gramme and Poppa picked up Lucy from her house before coming to get us. Then all five of us went to the aquarium. A few weeks ago I had found an amazing deal on my dream stroller on craigslist in New Hampshire. My mom had picked it up for us, and Micah and Lucy got to test it out. (I will not bore everyone, but if you want to hear more about why this stroller is so awesome, just let me know. :) )

We had a lot of fun at the aquarium before getting lunch at McDonald's and dropping Lucy off at her babysitter's.

Thursday: We mostly just played at Gramme and Poppa's house. Micah took a nap that was almost four hours long to recover from the day before. Gramme had gotten Uncle Eric's old matchbox cars out of the attic, so the majority of Micah's waking hours were spent playing cars.

Friday: Micah was forced to tag along while Mommy and Gramme shopped for maternity clothes at an outlet store. Then we went to the Children's Museum of New Hampshire. It was very toddler-friendly, and Micah had a fantastic time. Predictably, two of his favorite exhibits involved trains and balls. He also spent a lot of time putting foam "airplanes" on a conveyor lift, then cranking them up the ceiling to watch them fly back down.

Saturday: We stayed home again, but had lots of visitors. A family friend came in the morning. A great-aunt and great-uncle were coming through town and stopped by for a while in the afternoon. And Eric, Meredith, and Lucy came for the afternoon and evening.

Sunday: We went to church in the morning, then home to play for a little while. While Micah napped, I had lunch with two friends from high school. By the time I got back, Micah was waking up and ready for us to drive back to Boston. We enjoyed more play time with family and a delicious dinner.

Monday: Aunt Meredith skillfully maneuvered through rush-hour traffic (something I never want to have to do) to take Micah and I to the airport. We had no lines for checking baggage or going through security. Micah was cheerful and patient while we waited to board our flight. However, part-way through the flight his patience ran out. We were both ready to get off the plane, see Daddy, and be home. We suffered through and were rewarded by having Daddy waiting for us when we got off the plane.
My over-tired boy made the afternoon a little rough, but we made the best of it and had fun making cookies for Bible study. Micah was surprisingly good at opening the Hershey kisses and only ate two (that I know of)!

Today: Hopefully today will be mostly unpacking and resting!

Fireplace

There's still more work to be done in our new room, but at least we can say that the fireplace is finished!

First Date

Micah had his first date today. He picked up Ally and took her to a dance! Like the last toddler dance party, Micah's favorite part was the balloons. He also played in the bubbles and danced a little bit.(I know Ally doesn't look thrilled in this picture, but it's only because she had to say goodbye to her mom who had to keep working. She was happy again minutes later.)
