We decided to get a pass to the local pool this summer. (In Tallmadge, of course, because there's nothing in Brimfield!) It's about 10 minutes from us, so it's great to just head over there for an hour or two, rather than planning a big excursion for the whole day. My hope was that if we were swimming regularly, Micah would start getting more comfortable in the water. And it's working!! In just the past two weeks he has made huge improvements. Most notably, he doesn't get upset if he gets water on his face, or even if it happens to go up his nose. Also, thanks to our new
puddle jumpers (you can see Jackson wearing one in the picture on the bottom), Micah loves to float and swim around in the "deep water". (It's 3.5 feet.)
Hannah loves the water. She shouts "pool!" as we're getting ready, and sometimes claps when we pull in the parking lot. She would go down the little slide all day and doesn't care about water in her face (she sometimes gets annoyed when it gets in her ears, though). At first we just had "water wings" for her, and she would get frustrated in the deep end that she couldn't be independent. Today was the first day with her new puddle jumper, and she was literally giggling with glee when I let go of her and let her float around.
It's even more fun when we can meet up with friends. Hannah gets very excited if Jackson and Carter are going to be there. (She still asks for them when she wakes up sometimes. She's probably confused that they aren't at our house every day.)
