Family Cookout

Last night we had a cookout with the families in our Bible study.  We decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and told Matthew that it was his birthday party.  :)

Our oldest kid can now take care of the youngest kids.  We have made it!

The Oysters brought over a game that we just learned about recently called Kan Jam.  Kids and adults both loved it.

Love these kids so much!!!

He chose ice cream sundaes for his birthday treat.

We ended the night with a highly competitive game of basketball - dads against kids.
Matthew's form of defense is illegal, but highly effective.

Soccer Champs!

Micah's team finished the regular season with a record of 5-2-1.  (That's 5 wins, 2 losses, and a tie, for you non-sporty people.)  This past weekend they went into the championship tournament as the 2nd seed.  Their first game went back and forth, but they ended up winning 6-5.  That meant that they faced an undefeated team in the championship game.
Even though the boys were exhausted, they played an amazing game that ended in a tie!  It then went to a shootout - best out of 5 wins.  Micah's team won!!  It was a very exciting finish to a good season.  Micah's strength is defense (his coach called him "our wall of defense"), but he is growing all-around as a player and teammate.
(I was out of town this weekend, so all the pictures are from Scott and other parents)

End of School!

The kids finished up their last few days of school this week.  On Monday, they had awards in the morning.  In each class only one child receives a special "Character Award".  It is given to the child who most consistently displayed Christ-like character all year long.  Both Hannah and Micah were honored with this award in their classes.  Scott and I are incredibly proud of them

On Tuesday each class had their own picnic.  Even though it was cold and rainy, those crazy kindergartners still wanted to swim.

I went with the 3rd and 4th graders to the park.  We endured some rain while we played kickball and relay races, but it did not spoil our fun.
Micah is front and center.

Wednesday, again, was cold and rainy.  We had talked about riding our bikes to school several times, and this was our last chance.  It's an easy ride for Micah, but Hannah's little legs were working hard.  We made it, and we were still on time!
