Brothers?

Are you sure they're not related?

In April, Carter's mom will be home on maternity leave, so Carter will not be with us every day. I'm not sure what Micah is going to do with himself. When Micah woke up from his nap yesterday and realized Carter had gone home, he cried. He cried again later in the afternoon, too, "I want my Carter!" And when Daddy put him to bed at night, he had to reassure Micah that Carter would be back in the morning. Aw, buddies.

The Past Few Days

Micah and Carter told me they were going to work to teach the kids. I believe this is their office. I don't know why they insisted on sticking out their tongues.

Here's a little creativity with play-doh.

And Gramme and Poppa were here for a few days!

Escapee

The bad news is that Micah figured out how to get out of his crib this morning. The good news is that judging by the sound of the thump and the amount of crying, I don't think he'll try it again soon.

Two for Tuesday

Here is Micah singing one of his favorite songs. He usually sings all the words without any help, but I think the camera gave added pressure.

Here are Micah and Daddy playing Micah's favorite game. It's called "Pull Daddy". After watching the video you might ask yourself, "Why doesn't Scott just stay down?" Although not caught on film, the answer is that if Scott stays lying down, Micah runs full speed and jumps on him!

I took Micah to the doctor today. He was a superstar, sitting very still while the doctor looked in his ears and listened to his heart. He has an ear infection and is wheezing, so he's taking an antibiotic now. Can't you tell from the video that he's sick? Yeah, me neither.

Blog Slacker

I know my blog posts have been getting farther apart. I have no excuses. Here's a few funny Micah moments from the week.

- He kicked me out of his room ("No, thank you, Mommy"), and shut the door! I know he likes to be by himself sometimes, but really??

- Yesterday he took Curious George upstairs and put him in his bed. He came back down the stairs whispering and shushing me. As soon as he got to the bottom of the stairs, he made a little noise (I think it was George waking up) and started back up the stairs calling "I'm coming, George!"

- I had to switch some laundry in the basement, so I left him at the table and told him I'd be right back. Within five seconds I heard him calling "Mommy! Mommy!" I called back that I'd be up in a second. Apparently that wasn't fast enough, because then he started calling "Deb! Deb!" Later, when I was relating the story to Scott, Micah starting laughing and saying "Deb! Are you?"

- It has puzzled me for months that Micah will say the names of all his friends and some of their parents (and my name!), but he won't say "Micah". I recently got him a new dresser/changing table for his room. Now when he is lying on it, he sees the wooden letters of his name. He loves to hold them and talk about them (C is for Carter, and A is for apple). Last night I heard him saying "I - C - A - H....Micah!" So he went from never saying his name to saying it AND spelling it. Crazy kid.

Vacation Over

First a quick note: Congratulations to the Hay family who added Aaron David to their family yesterday!

Scott had a four-day-weekend, and it was like a mini-vacation. He was Super-Dad, taking care of Micah as much as possible and giving me a lot of time to relax and enjoy myself. Micah cooperated with the spirit of vacation by sleeping in everyday. He was so happy to have lots of play time and attention from both parents. (He only asked for Carter a few times. :) )

Here he is helping Mommy make brownies...

getting bundled up for the snow....

helping Mommy shovel...

and taking a break from shoveling.

Micah is a huge fan of sledding. Our driveway is the perfect length and slope for our little guy to have a fun ride without wearing out his parents. Even Daddy with his knee was able to take Micah up and down a few times.

All good things must come to an end. Tomorrow we return to normal life. Thankfully, our "normal life" is pretty great. :)
