March Madness

I don't have many pictures to post until everyone else gets a chance to upload theirs. But here's a few shots of our 8th annual March Madness weekend. We had good food, good weather, and good friends. It's interesting that as we get older, our weekends seem to have less basketball and more naps. :) This weekend also included a trip to the park, a campfire, Wii, lunch at Chick-fil-a, and a fabulous shopping trip for the girls.

A Compromise

Micah did not want to take a nap today. I left him alone in his crib for over an hour, then tried lying on the floor next to his crib for a while. I even tried rubbing his back and singing. When we were getting close to the 2-hour mark, he was starting to get hysterical. Since I didn't want him to wake up Carter, my choices were to give up on the nap or rock him while he slept. I didn't like either of those options. So I picked him up (he calmed down instantly) and laid back down on the floor with him next to me. In less than 5 minutes he was sound asleep, and I was able to leave the room. We will NOT be making a habit of this, but sometimes you just have to do whatever works!

Baby News

Yesterday Micah accompanied me to an OB appointment. (Incidentally, this was the first time that Molly, my midwife, had seen Micah since she delivered him! She thought he was absolutely adorable and couldn't get enough of him.) I thought I had felt some movement from the baby earlier this week, but wasn't sure since it's still pretty early for that. Molly brought it up, saying that the second time around it's common to feel the baby already. Minutes later as she felt around to get the baby's heartbeat, the little one gave me a sharp kick in the side!
I was also excited to learn that I'll get to have my ultrasound almost two weeks earlier than I was expecting. (One week because I miscounted, and the second week because she said it's ok for me to be in my 19th week instead of the 20th.) April 5th is the big day!! I can't wait!

Fake Spring

The temperature is currently sixty degrees! The boys and I lavished in the sunshine at a local park. They spent more than half their time on the swings, laughing and asking to go faster.

After getting this great shot of Carter, I tried unsuccessfully to take one of Micah. I was laughing and making a fuss because he closed his eyes every time. Then Carter the comedian asked me to take another one of him, and he intentionally closed his eyes! Funny kid. :)

Pancakes and Sunshine

Things that contributed to my happiness today:
- breathing through my nose
- blueberry pancakes for breakfast


- sunshine
- weather warm enough to play outside



- talking to my husband at lunch
- a nap
- dinner with girlfriends tonight!

I knew that Micah knew a few of his letters (thanks to PBS programming), but I was surprised to find out that he knows almost half the alphabet pretty consistently! He gets really excited when he sees letters that he knows. This morning he told me that the "8" on his digital clock was a "B". When it turned to "8:28" he squealed, "another one!". :)
