March and April

Well, let's see.  In March I had a birthday.  It was weird remembering the party we had the year before.  We had no idea at the time that it would be our last social event for a year!  This year we had Chick-fil-a and played games with the Hays.  It felt great to have friends over again.

Little Peanut started walking.  She still struggles with eating, but she is steadily gaining weight.  She has made enough progress that she can sleep through the night without waking up for a bottle.

She is not the only one growing.  We measured Hannah on her half birthday, and I thought she was standing on her toes!  Those purple lines show that she grew over 2 inches in 6 months.  At 10.5 years, she's the same height Micah was at 11.5.  And I'm pretty sure the height is all in her legs.

Matthew got the opportunity to do a football "spring training" camp.  He loved it.  We'll see in the fall if he loves it enough to choose it over soccer.

Thanks to vaccines and lower covid rates, we got to see family again!  The Kollers came to visit one weekend, and Nana and Papa another.

For Easter we did our annual egg hunt with just a couple neighbors.  Then after church on Sunday we returned to our tradition of brunch at Bob Evans.

Over spring break we had "Baby L" (who is almost 4 now!) and her sister spend the night.  We had planned to go to the Cleveland Zoo, but the weather didn't cooperate.  Instead, I took the girls the following week.  They were disappointed that Hannah couldn't come (since she had school), but we had a great time and a beautiful day!

Micah is doing track and field with school this spring.  He was on the fence about trying it because he didn't think he'd do well with "short" races.  We encouraged him to just give it a try, and it turns out his parents were right this time. He sometimes runs the 800 meter race or the 4x400 relay, but his real success has been in the 1600m (1 mile).  His best time so far is 5:34!  I had no idea he could run a mile that fast!  His coach has singled him out for his attitude and work ethic, and we're very proud of him.  (Unfortunately, all of his meets have been cold and snowy/rainy so far.  Here's hoping for some sunshine soon!)

All three kids are playing soccer this spring with Mighty Kicks/Burning River United (same club, just different names for different ages).  Micah and Hannah have each had a couple of games.  Matthew's first game is this weekend.
