First (and second) Day of School

Isn't it so sad to see all those x's on the summer calendar?  I have LOVED this summer with the kids.  Micah and Hannah especially have played so well together; I'm sad to see it end.  But, there are always more good things on the horizon, and we have now arrived at this one:

Yesterday was Micah's first day of second grade.  He was great, but I had a slight parenting fail: when we got to school I realized my camera battery was dead.  So, I took a picture when we got home, and then we did a redo this morning.  Thanks to the wonderfulness of uniforms, you can't tell the difference.  :)

preview for next year!
Micah's school has grown significantly this year.  They added a pre-K as well as a second class for second grade.  Along with growth in other classes, I believe they said they've added over forty students!  It's a wonderful place, so I'm not surprised.  :)

New Hampshire

Some highlights from our trip to New Hampshire:

Lots of cousin fun -
flying airplanes they made, then rescuing them from trees and bushes

the snuggly reading corner

 Blueberry picking

the beautiful Natalie

Matthew's strategy was to steal berries from Gramme's bucket, put them in his own, then pour them into his mouth.

Lucy was a super-picker - faster than me!

 Lots of swimming and kayaking
trying to get dragonflies to land on them
 Building a fort

Watching laundry.....who knew it was so exciting?

An outdoor concert on the lake
eating our leftover ice cream from the night before

they decided to listen to the music from the water
And a trip to the beach

look!  a rare appearance of me in a picture!

Our only rainy day was the last one, but it gave us a chance to watch "Swiss Family Robinson".  Then our flight home was delayed four hours, but it gave us a chance to see how crazy Matthew gets by 1:00am with no sleep.  :)  Maybe we'll drive for Thanksgiving....
